Frequently asked Questions

What is FareBuddy?
FareBuddy is a smart profitability monitor for ride-hailing drivers. It analyses trip offers in real-time and highlights which ones are likely to be profitable, based on your chosen criteria.

How does it work?
FareBuddy uses Accessibility Services to read trip details displayed in your ride-hailing app. It calculates profitability using metrics such as price per mile, price per minute, and estimated “dead miles”, then provides an instant on-screen overlay determining which job cards are profitable.

Why does FareBuddy need Accessibility Access?
This permission allows FareBuddy to read only trip-related information shown on your screen. It is the only way to provide real-time profitability checks. We never read messages, personal data, or other apps.

Which platforms does it support?
FareBuddy is compatible with major ride-hailing platforms. Compatibility is updated regularly.

Can FareBuddy accept or decline trips for me?
No. FareBuddy does not auto-accept or reject trips. You stay in full control of all decisions, ensuring compliance with platform rules.

Does it drain my battery?
No. FareBuddy is optimised for minimal power use. It only runs when monitoring is active.

What about privacy?
All analysis happens locally on your phone. Trip data is never uploaded to servers. We only collect anonymous usage data (e.g. crash logs) to improve app performance.

Is FareBuddy available on iOS?
iOS does not currently allow third-party apps to access or draw over other app screens. Because of these strict restrictions FareBuddy is only available for Android devices only.
